It may not look like much, but this boil kettle and mash tun were part of Sierra Nevada’s original brewing equipment in 1980. Their pale ale, which helped pave the way for craft beer in America, was born inside these vessels, along with many other remarkable beers.

The equipment is still operational at Mad River Brewing in Blue Lake, CA. Sierra Nevada sold them in 1989. I suspect they’ll make it back to Chico someday.
