I’ve never taken a portrait in a controlled studio environment. For one, that would require a studio and more then just a tripod, portable flash, and umbrella, which can go a long way. You don’t always need thousands of dollars in equipment.
So sometimes I’m left to make the best of challenging circumstances. Case in point is this photograph of Phil Meeker, taken last week in the midst of a plumbing inspection, concrete sanding, electrical installation, and a bunch of other people working hard to get the space open in a few weeks. The only spot to take Phil’s photo was above the fray, on top of his brewing equipment.
The photo was taken to accompany an interview with Phil published on the San Francisco Brewers Guild blog.
