I found myself reminiscing about the past today. It was one of those, “I remember them when…”. Back in 2011, I organized small beer festival called Breweries of Tomorrow for SF Beer Week. It featured Bay Area homebrewers who were in the process of going pro at various stages. One of the participants was Alan Altha, now owner and brewmaster of Baeltane Brewing, formerly known as Beltane Brewing. The name change is a long story.
Anyways, later in the summer of 2011 I had the pleasure of hanging out with Alan during one of his homebrew sessions. He brewed in his garage, which also doubled as a training room for professional bikers. Alan was a professional trainer in his former life.
Spending an entire brew day, from start to finish, is one of my favorite things to do as a photographer. I have a ton of time to capture every important moment and the brewing minutia. This session yielded quite a few good shots. They were published in a blog post and then filed away. Baeltane Brewing is now operating a small brewery and tasting room in Novato, CA. Pay Alan a visit.
